Steal Away to Jesus

Each sermon I write now feels like a howl into the wilds, turning to songs of hope and a call to a people who are 'not yet'. Rosa Parks once said, "I am sick and tired of being sick and tired". So it is with the church. The church has told you that you, and especially your body, are not to be trusted. The Pharaoh like God teaching 'we' are bad to our essence - but may work out salvation - albeit with fear and trembling. To men and women caught under that weight, I cry out -- to steal away to Jesus. The whole, human man, who receives the love and adoration of the woman who washes him in her tears and dries him with her hair. Steal away to the one who crosses all boundaries, touching our wounds with his own. Such a people must become a movement - a "freedom church of the poor". Steal away to Jesus.
